About Mary Niederlehner

While working to attain her degree in Psychology, Virginia resident Mary Niederlehner held a number of jobs and volunteered extensively. As an accomplished Spanish linguist, Ms. Niederlehner spent two years tutoring Spanish students at Hidden Valley High School. In fall of 2008, Mary Niederlehner assisted with a blood drive conducted by the American Red Cross. As a member of the Psi Chi National Psychology Honor Society, she participated in the Carver Greenhouse Project, working with local first grade students, teaching them how to plan and build gardens.

During the summer of 2007, Mary Niederlehner was selected to take part in the University of South Carolina’s PACES program, which works with students who are interested in pursuing careers in medicine. Ms. Niederlehner was included on the Dean’s list in spring of 2008. Mary Niederlehner soon transferred to Virginia Western Community College, where she was recognized as a member of the President’s Honor Roll. Shortly thereafter, Mary Niederlehner transferred once again, this time to Virginia Commonwealth University. There she completed her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, receiving a 3.9 grade point average and graduating magna cum laude. Currently, Ms. Niederlehner serves as the Treasure for the school chapter of Psi Chi. She is also a laboratory research assistant in the Biopsychology Department. During her last few years at Virginia Commonwealth University, Ms. Niederlehner spent several months shadowing anesthesiologists and surgeons at the Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

Mary Niederlehner is an avid travel enthusiast, and has visited 14 countries. She is also a dedicated pianist, and has studied and practiced music theory for eight years. Additionally, Ms. Niederlehner enjoys spending her spare time cooking and exercising.
